Week 37 Update

Our Learning

LITERACY:  In Reading Workshop we continued to use Chunky Monkey as a decoding strategy.  In Writing Workshop we wrote All About books.  Students chose topics based on their areas of expertise and wrote informational texts to teach their readers.

MATH:  This week we wrapped up our unit on Analyzing, Comparing, and Composing Shapes.  Students described the relative position of shapes and objects using ordinal numbers and made composite shapes with flat shapes and drawings.


  • Please continue to send your child to school with his/her folder and backpack Monday-Thursday next week.  Students will bring home papers, notebooks, journals, etc. each day!  No backpack is needed on Friday, our last day.
  • Our End-of-Year Class Party will take place on Wednesday, June 12th from 9:30-10:30ish.  All grown ups are welcome to attend or help out!  Wendy McDowall will a SignUpGenius link.
  • Friday, June 14th is our last day of school and it is a half-day.  Following the 5th Grade Clap-Out, students will return to their classrooms for a regular dismissal.  At 12:05 bus riders will go to the bus lines and pick up students will dismiss out the Kindergarten doors with me.  There will be no afternoon Kids Club on the last day of school.  Please click here to let me know your child’s dismissal plan for the last day.  Thank you!
