LITERACY: In Reading Workshop we continued our unit on Getting to Know Characters. Students prepared themselves to talk to partners about their characters by putting together all of their strategies. In Writing Workshop we continued our unit on Opinion Letters. Students are learning to give more reasons for their opinions and to use the letter format to share their thinking with others.
MATH: This week we continued our unit on Numbers 11-20. Students are learning to show, count, and answer how many questions about objects in circular or linear configurations. We also reviewed counting up and down from 0-100 by tens this week.
SCIENCE: We began our new science unit this week! In our first investigation of Materials and Motion we asked, “Where does wood come from?” and “What is made of wood?” We looked for answers both inside the classroom and out on the playground.
